Ronaldo: and the great man cried.

As Cristiano Ronaldo walked down the tunnel in tears after Portugal became the latest footballing heavyweight to be dumped out, a whole lots must be running through his mind most especially the battles and the ignominious way his lofty career is ending, the troubles with former club (Manchester United) and with his country before it was compounded by Morocco who against all odds, did the unthinkable.

Whoever imagined that he would become a bench warmer in a team that he was formerly untouchable and dictating as the leader, such that he even came off the bench in the 51st minute to replace Ruben Neves in the game against Morocco and was unable to inspire his Nation on the night after trailing 1-0 from Youssef En-Nesyri's opener.

Even though Ronaldo equaled FIFA record for men's international caps with 196th appearance as he matched Kuwait's Badr Al-Mutawa, it was meaningless due to the shocking result which has probably ended his international career too, which could be the real reason behind the teary tears as the final whistle left him heartbroken as he failed to keep his dream of one last crack at football's biggest prize.
